how can we modify this to work with the gifts plugin? here is a link for the gifts plugin that i found

Rohonupe, we integrated this plugin with our own gifts plugin available here. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with plugin uploaded by iionly. You can however use class defined in vazco_karma plugin, all methods are available in models/model.php.
