What do this plug in do? Dose this mean a user can create there own social network om my domain? Kind of like wordpress MU.....
Yes, one of the features is to allow users to create their own communities as subdomains.
Hay,
how can i 'Apply the patches' in existing elgg files? Can you please explain
If you use Linux you use the command "patch".
Otherwise programs like Eclipse or NetBeans allow applying patches.
This isnt working for me at all. Everytime I copy the files over it removes all the styling.
Are you missing styles in the admin area or everywhere?
There is a know bug in 1.6 corrected in 1.6.1. Search Elgg community site and groups for a workaround.
We will release a Multisite Elgg 1.6.1 later next week with this and other bug corrected.
Did anyone find a fix for styles going missing after adding multisite?
What is the difference between alivin70's Multisite Pack 2.1 and Fabrice's Multisite Beta 1.33?
Multisite Pack 2.1 is a modified version on Fabrice's Multisite 2.0 (http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/fabcol/read/83213/multisite-beta-20-for-elgg-15-for-test-only)
It adds some new features.
Q1 -- therefore, is Multisite Pack 2.1 the latest/greatest solution, and a replacement to Fabrice's Multisite 2.0, or will Fabrice continue to develop his version - hence elgg has 2 competing multisite plugins? Just curious as to which way to go with a multisite solution.
Q2 -- I installed elgg as a directory on our web server (http://myDomain.com/elgg/). I think I saw reference in your installation instructions that your Multisite plugin will not work with this sort of install. Is that correct? If so, do you anticipate a solution to this form on install in the near future?
A1 -- No competition. We are working togheter to develop Multisite. You can join the group of developers here: http://community.elgg.org/pg/groups/21771/multisite/
A2 -- No, at the moment Multisite works only in / . That's due to .htaccess RewriteBase directive.
Ok thanks...
R1 -- I did join that group earlier this week.
R2 -- any timeframe to get multisites working where installed in a sub-directory off the document root on the sever?
Sorry, Elgg in a subdir is not in my todo list.
I can give you the right direction to contribute a patch, if you want.
Sure, please do.
Ok, I'll send you the references to the relevant portions of code.
Alivin70 - it is not real clear to me as to whether your multisite plug-in is the same or is different or will ultimitely to become one with Fabrice's multisite plug-in (see post thread at http://community.elgg.org/mod/groups/topicposts.php?topic=241977&group_guid=21771).
We need multisite capabilities at our organization, but I am not sure which plug-in to go with both in the short-term and the long-term.
@Alivin
@Fabrice
@Daniel
I'd like to to see some serious collaboratiion in this area of "Multi-Elgg" design directions
this plugin seems very interesting
If you don't have advanced skills on DB and Elgg's core engine, you better don't mess with multisite.
First of all, thanks for this great contribution.
I used the multisite plugin with elgg1.6.and I successfully created so many subsites.But if i login with one subsite, then I can't login with another one in the same browser or in any other browser. if we treate each subsites as different ones, then it should possible to take different subsites at the same time for a particular user. How can I make it possible. Please give me solution.
Thanks in advance
