Amazon Wish List Widget v1.0

Release Notes

Makes use of Yahoo! Pipes to get JSON data from Amazon instead of XML to avoid Cross-Domain XMLHttpRequest restrictions. Requires the jQuery FlyDom plugin in the vendors\jquery directory. You may want to hard code your AWS Access Key into the widget on a production site. The instructions can be found in the readme.txt file.

  1. Create an amazon folder in the mod\profile\views\default\widgets folder
  2. Unzip the edit.php and view.php files into the amazon folder
  3. Add a line of code to the start.php file in the mod\profile folder. The line of code should be placed in the function profile_init()  See readme.txt for the line of code.
  4. Sign up for an Amazon Web Services Account at:
  5. Find your list id by going to your Wish List on Amazon and writing down the value after wishlist. Example: The list id is 12S9629PIWFHP
  6. Edit your profile page and drag the Amazon Wish List widget from the Widget Gallery into any of the three widget areas.
  7. Click on the widget's Edit link and enter the parameters; List ID, AWS Access Key, and number of books to list in the range of 1 to 10.

Elgg Amazon Widget

  • Is anything available for Shelfari - the amazon bookshelf?

  • @adclose: Why would you do that? Advertise your plugin that makes you money on someone elses plugin who is just posting what they think might be useful?

I am asking to have his comment removed as it directly effects the downloads and use of another plugin, not right.

I'm not a big one to flame, but it pisses me off when someone side swipes someone with a new plugin, tool, idea, w/e it may be and put theres up front.

  • I just uploded the site but not working.

  • @adclose: wow, nice sales pitch while trying to apologize, horrible.

  • The Amazon Wish List is a list of books that you'd like to have which your friends may buy for you.  So by putting this widget on your profile you may get a few books out of it. It is not the same as the Amazon Associates links which pays you a commission if someone buys a book after clicking on a link you provided.

By the way, I'm working on comment threading on blogs so we can dispense with this awkward @ asterisk sign to indicate comment replies. I'm also working on a custom view to export blog posts to WordPress.
