Big Brother v1.1

Release Notes

Unless other people can confirm bugs on well-formed data input, this version is out of beta.

Before reporting a bug make sure that your are using a properly formatted words list!  Words *must* beseparated by a comma!  Additional whitespace is ignored.  DO NOT attempt to use regexp in the words list!!!  This will be a feature of a later version.

Enables a word-based censor for all user input.  Optionally can report offensive language via the
Reported Content plugin.

** INSTALLATION **

  • ideal, just what I was looking for - thank you!

  • Top man!  Seems to have fixed the problems in the previous version.  After I'd configured it, here's how it rendered a rather abusive blog I posted in my test environment:

"smeg off you smeg , you smeg smeg , you smeg -loving smeg . Stick it up your smeg you smeg . You're a total smeg .

I support Arsenal, although I live in Scunthorpe."

  • I need one that will outsmeg arsenal.

    :)

  • Excellent!  This version works perfectly for me.  I added a text file of almost 500 'bad' words and posted the nastiest blog I could think up.  The message was posted without the banned words, while the reported content contained the FULL text and the user info.  This is necessary for my grade 7 and 8 students, as they are always finding "creative" ways of expressing themsleves - I need to make sure that there are boundaries...exactly what i've been looking for!

  • Spoke too soon!  It works fine...as long as I don't plan on adding any other plugins.  This action results in all plugins being disabled along with the error message "You have used an innappropriate word...".  The same result occurs when I disable the BigBrother plugin.

  • Pecam,

Please send me the exact list of words you used to be filtered (brett [[dot]] profitt [[at]] eschoolconsultants.com).  This is often a result of bad-data and I was hoping this new release covered all the scenarios.  Guess not :-/
