group prayer v1.5

Release Notes

As request here is a prayer plugin for groups. I purposly didn't include this in the origional prayer plugin, as I would think most would use one or the other. Splitting into two retains the flexability to choose, or have both. You decide.

Thanks to the author of groupblogs upon which this is based

  • @johno

    How much trouble would it be to add two more text boxes? One for anwsers to the prayer request and another for related scripture? I wouldn't mind doing that myself for my own purposes, but I'm not sure where to begin. I will understand if this isn't something you would want to do. If not, would you be able to point me in the right direction to implement this myself?

    Thank you and God Bless <><

  • Sorry...what I mean is text areas and not one line text boxes.

    God Bless <><

  • @Greg Rersonally I would simply include any scripture in the main body, however there are two other options:

    1. hack the "Tag" function to be scriptures.

    in groupprayer/views/default/groupprayer/forms/edit.php

    change: $tag_label = elgg_echo('Tags');
    to:         $tag_label = elgg_echo('Scriptures');

    2. If you need more function than this, then it would require a bit more work. If the above is not sufficient then I can detail what you will need to do.

  • @johno You make a very good point about the scripture. And for that matter, the user could also include the answer to the prayer request in the body by doing an edit. So, basically, it does everything I need :-) I like the tags the way they are so I will just encourage my users to put all text, whether a prayer request, answer or scripture, in the body of the request. Thank you so much for this plugin. It pretty much completes my needs for my prayer network site.

    God Bless <><

  • @ Greg. On our site users post scriptures, answers to prayer, and encouragement etc in the comments.

    Happy it is working for you :)

  • can anybody post up a link to their site where this workin?

  • @sabzi you can see it on my test rig here. Look in the left hand panel

  • There seems to be a bug in the permissions.  If I set a prayer to have permissions for the group it doesn't take and instead the permissions are set to "Private"  "Logged in users" works as does "friends"

  • also got this error when clicking on "Group Prayers" from a user's profile.  So far it only seems to affect one user but I've only checked a few:

    You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ') and ( (1 = 1) and enabled='yes')' at line 1 QUERY: select count(guid) as total from elggentities where type='object' and subtype=14 and owner_guid = '559' and site_guid = 1 and container_guid in () and ( (1 = 1) and enabled='yes')

  • @NorCal I cannot replicate these bugs. If you are getting a database exception that suggests you have issues with your install. I don't think there is much I can do to help you.

  • johno, could it be related to it being a closed group? So we're clear, I setup a group prayer in a group called: "group1"  under "Access" I set it to: "Group: group1" then save.  However instead of "Group: group1"the Access permissions are saved as "Private"

  • @NorCal Dunno, followed as you detailed above but no problem. Umm don't really know what your issue could be. What is your default access level? Sounds like falling back to the default.

  • johno, default access level = logged in users

  • @johno

    I can't seem to find your other prayer plug in, do you still have it?
