Thanks Jeroen, great work as always.
Hi! I can't find where to configure default multidashboard :(
Thanks for a great plugin. I'd like to tweak the group widgets so that the "Add a topic" or "Upload a file" option appears at the top of the box instead of the bottom - I'm new to Elgg, so I'd be grateful for any advice about which files I need to edit to make that change.
Hi, I downloaded this plugin for a preview. I seem to be missing a suggested dependency: group_tools. Somehow I can not locate it. Anybody knows any keywords which would lead me to this plugin? I tried group/s and tool/s... I am not surprised if this is a very obvious one, but I am missing it...
As for Coldtrick people, great plugins!
The group_tools plugin is here: http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/jeabakker/read/736791?release=869779
great! thanks for this excellent plugin!
Thanks! @Lancey
Hey Jeroen,
I've been working on upgrading a fairly sizeable 1.7 installation to 1.8. Widget manager is great, the only issue I seem to have is that the layout of the widgets seems to be lost in the transition. Is this a known effect, an oversight, or specific to my case?
@Matt Beckett Same thing happened to me, but after upgrading from 1.8.1 to 1.8.4
@matt and @rjcalifornia the column layout when migrating from elgg 1.7 to 1.8 has been "flipped". Column 1 became 3 and 3 became 1. There is no migration script provided in Elgg to fix this issue. You could do it yourself with a bit of sql knowledge.
Thanks Jeroen for the plugin. It is very useful!
I especially like: homepage design options, the ability to "pin down" the default widgets, so that the user can not move them around or delete (I could not first see the pin symbols on widget headers, but once you save, they appear) and specifying the 'addibility' of each widget.
What I do not know is:
- I can see that pin-down effect is only for the new users of the widget and as far as I understand it is an 'Elgg' thing. Is there a way or plugin to enforce this pin-down (and in general widget use) for the existing users of widget?
- Is there a way to also disable the display of the "Add a widget" button on the profile and dashboard screens? I know that, thanks to this Widget Manager, in Administration/Widget/Manage, you can specify per widget whether you allow users to add that widget or not. You can use this feature and make all widgets as NOT 'can be added', but the 'Add a widget' button is still visible and moreover it displays an empty window when pressed.
Thanks for the plugin!
Thanks @jdalsem for great job!
But I've some issue....
When I click on Widget -> Edit -> Advanced (for editing 'Custom title') it not saving in this moment - just after update whole page (Dashboard) :(
I try to edit views\default\forms\widgets\save.php into your plugin..no results ...
Maybe you'll advice me on how to fix it.
Thanks again ;)
Thanks Jeroen, the university wants the layout preserved so I'll put together a script for it and make it available on github or something for anyone else that wants it.
Hi Jeroen,
using the latest version of the plugin, I no longer have the option to add a new group page from the page widget. It only gives me the option to see "More pages". Is this a bug or a feature? Or has it got anything to do with the plugin sequence?
Regards,
Andreas.
@andreas a lot of functional plugins have been removed from this plugin and moved to plugins that extend the functionality of that "type" of functionality. For example the blog widgets have been moved to the blog tools plugin and the group widgets to the group tools plugin. You need those plugins if you require those specific functionalities. This is done so widget manager not is flooded with al kinds of un used widgets. Widget Manager should only be about the management of widgets. An exception is only made for tool unrelated widgets, such as the rss widget or the site statistics widget.
Hello Jeroen,
I installed the Widget Manager plugin. I added some widgets and these work fine. But, I cannot add a discussion widget because it does not appear in the list of widgets to install. Is this an error or do i have to enable something?
Groetjes,
Tauvic
@Jeroen Would it be a strange thing to say that a multi-index option like multi-dashboard one could be very useful?
nice thanks you!
@İşöğünçı could you Disable the "Add Widget" button from the user's profile? or disabled the dragging of the widgets? I need to do that also.
Thank you for any information about.
@Sairgo I have not come across any configuration item or plugin which facilitates removal of the "Add Widget" button.
I believe one way of removing it is via themes. At least I know some themes (like FB theme, Cool Theme) do not display such buttons. There might be a more conventional theme over there which does the same...
Regards.
As Tauvic mentioned, we too can't add the Discussion widget. We use discussion extensively in groups so this would be necessary. Is this an oversite that will be corrected, or is there a reason the Discussion widget has been left out?
as mentioned before
@sairgo the widget manager adds functionality to the widget framework, not removes it :) Removing the add functionality however and preventing drag is done very easily. We mostly do this from within the theme for our clients.
< as mentioned before... a lot of functional plugins have been removed from this plugin and moved to plugins that extend the functionality >
Confused! I have group tools and have blog tools - but my question was that I needed a "DISCUSSION" widget. Please, I can't find a Discussion Tools? Where is it? Thanks.
@ron discussion are part of groups. If you have groups (and group tools) there will be a forum_topics widget. If that is not the DISCUSSION widget i would not know which plugin should provide that widget.
