I think you need to adjust the permissions for some directories to 777. Unfortunately, I can't remember anymore which directories though.

the chat plug in does not work with my theme, but when i switch back to my default it shows up. how can i get it on my theme?

I m running Elgg 1.7.10 on WAMP server.

When I run chat on my localhost i.e 127.0.0.1 it opens nicely in a popup window and everything works fine.But when i host it on my real ip address on intra lan ,then popup window opens but the chat doesn't load properly.It only shows "Chat Loading".

Can anyone please tell me what could be the problem here??

Is it possible to change the menu call to show the number of chatusers?

There is a function to show all online users in elgg ( 'get_online_users()' ) and i would like a similar function so i can change the text on the main menu from 'Chat' to 'Chat (4)' or 'Chat (27/4)'

Im using elgg 1.7.1 / PFC 1.3

i enabled this plugin and when i try to send a message, the message that i typed does not appear in the chat screen.

I was able to resolve my issue by simply typing in a name for the default chat room in the admin section where i enabled the plugin. it's working for me in 1.7.10

i have a question. when i log out of the chat, and then go back to the chat room, old chat messages are still showing. i can see messages from users who were chatting even when i was not in the chat room. how can i set it so that the chat room messages get deeted automatically when a user logs out of chat?

How can I add more smilies to the chat???

@ karansingh i have the same issue that you had. my ip address on my computer changed after a power outage, and now the chatroom won't load. it keeps attempting to point to the old ip address. did you resolve this issue? and how?

i fixed the issue with the ip address. if your web server ip address ever changes, then you have to change the ip address in the file located in the path chat/pfc/data/private/cache/phpfreechat.php. if you don't change the ip address values, then it will not log on when you click the chat link

I don't see any IP numbers stored in :-
chat/pfc/data/private/cache/phpfreechat.php ;)

I upgraded from elgg1.7.13 with 1.7.14. Then I was not able to use this module. It is displayed with "Your must be connected to send a message" by a chat screen.

The text in this chat keeps repeating, sometimes as many as 4 or 5 times.  When a message is typed and sent to the chat window, a few seconds later the same text will appear again.  Often a few seconds later it will be repeated.

I am using this with 1.7.11
