Changing colors at random is distracting. You have "aalborg_theme" misspelled in the manifest.xml. It would be good to rename the functions and views to replace "aalborg_theme" with "material_design". Also I would avoid changing the admin pages theme. If a theme accidentally breaks these pages it could be a hassle for site admins.
Radical re-theming is hard work so I applaud your effort here! I'll try to provide more input later.

i am developing a social site and the project will start by next week.. i wish if i can get a upgraded production use version for material design theme
if you can please refer any other material design themes which can work for production use for 2.3 ?
@Ashish Have you tested this theme plugin on Elgg 2.3 yet? In theory it should still work on Elgg 2.3 if it worked correctly on Elgg 2.0 (if not, it probably never fully worked on Elgg 2 as I have to wonder why the same version had been released from Elgg 1.9 up to 2.0).
After activating this theme, my website gets a 500 error..
Please delete the Aalborg Theme folder

I have installed Material Design just now and giving it a turn. It looks really nice thank you!
One thing I'm finding is after logging into my site I end up at: domain.com/_graphics/ajax_loader_bw.gif
which produces a 404 error.
ps. I'm an Elgg newbie - so I am probably missing something I should have done!

@iionly - yes its working on 2.3 but i want to make some changes ---
1)fix the colors changing
2)box shadows are and other design tweaks - i am trying with css editor but not all changes are happening
3)most important - i want menu to be fixed - from top dropdown to side - the way its shown in theme screenshot
