That is correct, this plugin just adds a link to the item.

The default embed plugin makes that you can embed a thumbnail of the files plugin.

To embed a video, the plugin that provided the video functionality should add a video preview

No, I mean when I paste a youtube link shouldn't I be able to see a thumbnail in teaser/river and normal size in main content?

Ah, that is not a feature of this plugin ;)

You could use the embed feature of the ckeditor (wysiwyg). Maybe look into the plugin https://community.elgg.org/plugins/1939122 to be able to add the embed button to the toolbar

Hello, what´s the orginal plugin? This is just an extension. I tried but it requires the "mother" plugin. Cheers Martin

This plugin extends the functionality of the Embed plugin. This plugin is bundled with Elgg.
