Hi,

I just installed Elgg 2.0 and everything was successful. I then added the new 2.0 plugin for Elggchat. It appears on the far left corner of the screen but it is completely blank -- I cannot see friends or settings. I've tried disabling other plugins to try and narrow it down, but it doesn't seem to fix the issue. Is there something I missed when I installed it? I deactivated and deleted the old plugin, added the new 2.0 to the site. I'm not sure if there's something under my settings I should be altering as well.

If you already removed the plugin folder of the previously used Elggchat version before copying the new version to the server, then you have done at least this necessary step.

Are you sure that no other 3rd party plugin is causing the problem? It looks like it could be a problem caused by loading (or rather not loading) the JS code and this is a typical issue when using other plugins that are buggy (or in this case maybe not compatible with Elgg 2.0). I would suggest to disable all other 3rd party plugins temporarily to see if it works then.

Which browser are you using? Does it work when using another browser?

It appears to be the 'site announcement' plugin that's causing the problem, which is interesting. I'm not sure why, but once it's disabled, the chat pops up again.

The spam login filter also has some effect on the chat as well -- changes the box from "Friends online" to "elggchat:friendspicker". I gave up on solving that mystery a long time ago though.

UPDATE: I updated Spam login filter to the 2.0 plugin and now the friend's list is showing. Hooray!

I think the site announcement plugin has the same issue as the spam login filter plugin: it's not yet working correctly on Elgg 2.0. So, you would need to wait for an updated version to be able to use it on Elgg 2.0.
