Nice plugin, I also noticed that duplicate posts indeed happen under one condition, if you post yourself that entry returns twice. Refreshing the page will removes that duplicate.
if you check document ready in your js before it starts working it seems to be solved.

I am awaiting to upgrade to Elgg 1.9 and bug fix duplication of messages.
Another bug when posting ususário is, like the first time and comentáro disappears, back when the page refreshes.
