i just read from the original author of the script that the emoticons will not show if they are at the start of a line of text.. that may be fixed in a future version.

works on blogs and pages : ) thats good enougth for me using easy theme, the theme purity seems to be the best for this plugin, though i am happy anyways its not as if i have paid for this lol so i am a happy chappy ^_^

Can i suggest you to add this javascript code on the next version?
Because my elgg is full of ajax your plugin just load the icon on document ready...

For elgg ajax views only (recommended):
