We have overridden common notification messages provided by elgg as well as overriding the notification messages from a few common plugins, such as groups and questions/answers.
Instead of an e-mail that looks like this:
From:mysite@mysite.company.com
Subject: new blog post
The notifications will look like this:
From:"My Site"
Subject: (Group Name) A better way to notify - a new blog post by Dan Dutrow
