@Libertarian I'm not sure, if you understand me right. Or maybe I misunderstood your post - I'm not an native English.
The point is: I'm not a fan of the big social networks, like google+ and facebook. This is, why I use my own elgg setup. I like to store my data at my own server.
But sometimes, I like to share thing with friends, who are (currently) not members of my elgg community. For those persons it's more comfortable to login with there google account instead of register again somewhere.
But I'm not sure, if those big social networks (which I offer as alternative login option) could "fake" user action in order to access and/or scan my elgg community with an bot-like script.
If that cold be, I think, I would ask my friend to register at my elgg installation instead of using an goolge account (or FB).
i agree about facebook - which is why i do not use any corporate connections on my elgg site that directly interface with the database. fb is government orchestration. govern = control, ment = mind.
government = mind control. that's not conspiracy theory, its the truth of the words.
'comfortable' in this and other contexts is another way of saying 'convenient' and while ease of use is not wrong, we need to be aware of what is subtly being given away and lost (a price) for apparent 'ease'.
Hmm the FB & Foursquare connects seem to do fine for me, but when I try to use LinkedIn or Twitter I get this:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class OAuthException in /home/danyael/public_html/hometown-directories.com/mod/social_connect/vendors/hybridauth/Hybrid/thirdparty/OAuth/OAuth.php on line 11
Hi there, is the login of Facebook changed since the end of April as from that moment I cannot login with facebook any more. I get the error:
"Invalid Scopes: offline_access, publish_stream, read_friendlists. This message is only shown to developers. Users of your app will ignore these permissions if present. Please read the documentation for valid permissions at: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login/permissions"
ever since. Is there someone that can tell me what to do to get rid of this error? Ik have tried all kind of things in Facebook and in Elgg but I cannot find a solution for this.
I'm running 1.11.1 and I'm getting the same error. For now I've turned off Facebook until a solution can be provided.
Getting same error :(
