this is not functional for me on my test site (1.8.13 elgg) - on both blog listing page and activity page, when i click the 'load more' button - the button disappears and no more items are rendered.
no errors appear in the browser console.
Ura Soul: do you have any special theme ? or the default one ?
i am using a custom theme. i just disabled it and tested again and i see the same results.

fyi, i have tested with chromium and firefox; same with both. (linux)
Maybe is some conflictive module, try to Disable one per time the thirdparty modules still find which one, and tell me so I can give any support.

@Pedro Prez. Thanks for the plugin update. My problem was with River Addon 2013.02.07 (http://community.elgg.org/plugins/825625/2013.02.07/river-addon-18). Worked as advertised once that plugin was disabled. Regards...
i found that the cause of the glitch on my site is that i added a customisation of the 'list.php' file to my theme which adds a list count..
when i remove that file, the auto-load-more works ok.
i thought this must mean that that watch-my-pages also replaces the page/components/list.php file; but actually it doesn't.. so presently i do not know why this is occuring in much detail.
How can disable this only for plugin views counter?

ura soul It doesn't overrides any view, controller or action, it just add features with CSS and JS, to paginate it looks for the class .elgg-list or elgg-gallery class.
Starphysique Thanks to report this feature, will look how easy is to give support, in some free time, so people that uses that module do not have any problem.
my code adds a small element under the list that shows a count of the list contents; so possibly the javascript is interrupted in some way by that element? i don't have code in front of me to look presently.
I mean: in plugin views counter the load more does not work.
the element i am adding is a div, so possibly one of the 'child' references in the javascript is reaching the div i have added instead of one that the code assumes will be directly after the list
