As part of that task, I've got to:-
As part of these tasks, I hope to document how I go for the good of the community, and as a result of integrating BrainDash.com, we hope to be able to offer the services of BrainDash.com for integration of other peoples sites.

So I've go the user registration cracked with the CoReg plugin, I've integrated the user login with the AutoLogin plugin. Now we're down to theme integration.
The next stage is to fully integrate the topbar of the http://www.BrainDash.com/ site into elgg, and feed out of elgg the menus as they would normally appear on the topbar. I've no need for the topbar or the site title then.
The question will be can a login request made to a page displayed in elgg, neatly submit to http://www.BrainDash.com/
I'm pleased to say I've just completed implementing a similar integration for a clients site. If you'd like to hire Brain-Media to get us to integrate Elgg into your site too, please email me, at simon at brain-media.co.uk
