spam filter question
I am using elgg 1.8 and not sure if it comes with spam emails filter. I Kinda feel that there are fake user registrations happening in my site. Any information folks?

Elgg comes default with email validation, which is supplied by a plugin. For additional protection though it's recommended you use a more aggressive filter - there are quite a few options. I recommend spam login filter.

Matt could you provide an active link for a spam logn filter of your choice?
Spam login filter does a great job against spammers. You can even block countries at the login page.
Akismet plugin for elgg does an excellent job filtering blogs and pages that are created by spammers.

Oh nice. I will add that plug in. Will it require uninstalling anything what is already there in Elgg as defeault?
Not really. Just the normal plugin activation procedure.
Also, use the group discussion next time ;-) ;-)
