I suddenly realised that people do get to see what I type and it's not some hidden page thingy... I'm trying to put together a community website for disabled people in my country. But I haven't found a way to test elgg on shared hosting. I'm not much of a programmer so far Joomla + Community Builder has been easy to setup out of the box but it really lacks the core feature I'm looking for which is elgg.
Any ideas of the a quick and cheap way to test elgg so that I can perhaps move this direction? I like the structure so far with pages and groups. Never got to test the user blog but I know it's supported.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I would stay away from godaddy. Try looking at tmdhosting.com, hostupon.com or hostgator.com
For shared environment they work very well for large sites.
Also, it is my understanding from reading a few posts on here that elgg is considering a strictly commercial offering(not sure though). If that is the case you may want to consider looking for other open source solutions. A good place to start is www.opensourcecms.com or try www.hotscripts.com
I've been on oxxus.net -- it's about $10 a month with no problems (They will also install for free.) Also, as mentioned above, Godaddy.com.
