Or it might be a bug in Tidypics that occurs only on some servers (I can't reproduce it...). If you are currently using the HTML5 uploader of Tidypics, try it with the basic uploader (uncheck the HTML5 uploader option on the Tidypics settings page). If it works with the basic uploader, the problem / bug is within the HTML5 uploader of Tidypics. If the same problem occurs also with the basic uploader though, I think the problem is not within Tidypics - the basic uploader is rock stable. In this case the problem would be either due to a 3rd party plugin (see above) or due to some other server config that is not correctly set (but I can't think of any right now).

    • I have a problem with the mod - This image failed to load. Just do not talk about "3rd party plugin used on your site". The plugin works with regular monthly set of mods on the site. Nothing has changed! 1 month - everything worked perfectly. Today I entered to the site and - "This image failed to load." Version - Elgg_1.10-1.12_tidypics_v1.10.7

    • @Media Hata Is the problem occuring with new images or with the previously uploaded images that worked before? Are profile avatar images still displayed correctly? Possibly the problem is caused by some issue with the data directory (permissions?). Something would have to have changed on the server as Tidypics would surely not stop working suddenly on its own. And why" Just do not talk about "3rd party plugin used on your site" "? As you say, nothing has changes with the plugins but Tidypics isn't working correctly anymore nevertheless. So, nothing has changes with Tidypics either. This means, it's equally likely that another plugin might causing the issue - without testing you can't know for sure. It would at least be necessary to know if there are any errors logged in the server logs and to test if there is some problem with the data directory. If this isn't the case, I would suggest to make sure that it's really not a 3rd party plugin even if "nothing has changed".

    • Latest release of Elgg 1.9 is 1.9.7. I would suggest to update at some near time in future. Even better, I would suggest to update to Elgg 1.12, i.e. 1.9 -> latest 1.10 -> latest 1.11 -> latest 1.12. You will get at least bug fixes, some new features and performance improvements by doing so. Also, there shouldn't be any issues with compatibility of 3rd party plugins, i.e. almost all working on Elgg 1.9 will also work up to 1.12 and in the rare cases a plugin wouldn't work there might already be an update available.

Regarding the issues with the images:

      • are there any log entries that might explain what's wrong?
      • it could be some file of Elgg or a plugin missing or being corrupted. This could have happened on an update. It could help to copy Elgg and the plugins again on the server to add any missing or incomplete files. If the reason for the image issue would be due to a missing file, the server logs would contain some entries for sure.
      • The problem might be caused neither by the blog plugin nor by Tidypics. It could be another 3rd party plugin used on your site that is causing the problem. It might help to disable all 3rd party plugins apart from Tidypics to find out if any of them is causing the problem.

  • iionly replied on the discussion topic Tidypics displaying images

One of my site users uploaded 200 images into an album. The album displays only 21 of them but the entire 200 can be viewed using the slideshow button or clicking on images in the Activity river. Any ideas?
    • @RvR this is not about uploading of images (images already in the album). So, I don't think any php.ini setting has anything to do with it.

@jededitor I don't think that it's a memory issue because the slideshow loads even more images at once (and you said it works). If it's not hypeLists then it's likely another plugin that causes the problem. My guess is that is has something to do with pagination. I don't know what plugin exist that modify Elgg's pagination (infinitescroll etc.) as I don't use any of them. You need to test the likely candidates of these plugins (maybe including your theme plugin) to find out which of the plugins is causing the problem.

    • I'm not sure I understand what exactly you are asking.

The Tidypics plugin has nothing to do with a "tag plugin". The Tidypics plugin itself offers the feature to add tags to photos that have been uploaded using the Tidypics plugin.

Have you trouble installing the Tidypics plugin? If you freshly install Tidypics you won't see any Upgrade button on its settings page - that's only in case you upgrade from an older version of Tidypics.

Installation of Tidypics works like with any other plugin:

      • copy the Tidypics plugin folder to the mod directory of the Elgg installation on your server,
      • activate the Tidypics plugin in the list of plugins on your Elgg site,
      • check out Tidypics plugin settings (settings page is available in the admin backend of your Elgg site). Make any adjustments you think are necessary (e.g. enable to option to add tags to images).

For testing the tagging, create an album and upload an image to it. When viewing this image you will see the option to add a photo tag to this image above the full view of this image.
