OK, I am in!! Now that I have a fresh working elgg system, the real work begins.
The whole purpose of this excersize was to move my elgg system from a shared hosting platform to a dedicated. Now that I have the server working, I need to migrate. I did all of the suggested setps, but it's almost like the db is not synched. Here is what I did:
Now when I log in, still only the new site. Shouldn't my db have the old user info, etc?
Hi can someone please help me
I have install elgg1.5 and I didn’t miss any files everything is install by using dreamweaver FTP
I have tryed to open the page on the browser www.mydomain.com/elgg1.5
And i get this error
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
it didn’t even give me the chance to put my database dateless

Fair enough. I'll look into why Gravatar is not working on my site to see whether the plugin or my own stupidity is to blame.
Matt, except for the plugins actually released with the 1.5 RC 1 package, very few have yet been tested with the new code.
There have been a few changes under the hood (all for the better, of course) and it will probably take a little while for existing plugins to be fully migrated.
For my own plugins, I've found that most of the changes are in CSS and the river/activity log. Not a huge amount so far.
This was the result of a bug introduced into profile/start.php which prevented the event chain performing how it was expected.
This has now been fixed.
hi kevin,
I am getting the below exception when i am using the open client id plugin on windows environment.
2010-06-10 12:58:01 (UTC): "Define Auth_OpenID_RAND_SOURCE as null to continue with an insecure random number generator." in file C:\webserver\Apache\Apache2\htdocs\mpediasn\html\mod\openid_client\models\Auth\OpenID\CryptUtil.php (line 56)
can we use the open client id plugin in windows environment and i logged in using live journal id.
One more question is that how to create the login through gmail, yahoomail or hotmail using this plugin

@jon pipitone I think it can be done with a plugin, overriding the dashboard, adding your HTML code. I have done that before with the profilepage, making modifications on /views/default/canvas/layouts/widgets.php/
One of these is what your looking for. I don't know if they need any updating for 1.7 though.

So, we will have to wait to upgrade our 0.9 installation. Anyway, we have a development server with latest Elgg to see how it goes. Thank you so much for the info.
There are 2 plugins recently released to make that migration from Elgg 0.9 to Elgg 1.5, still in early stage. You can take a look at them:
Migration 0.9 -> 1.5 plugin for all data (0.8.0)
Please, share your experiences with that and tell us how they are working. I hope we will have a good migration procedure in a little time. :-)
