In my new community 3 of 9 people didn't found out where to change their avatar. It seems hard to find this setting.

You must log in to post replies.I modified one of the links in the spotlight box so that it points to the change avatar page.
Also speak to Mike he has a mod which places the spotlight box at the top of the dashboard page where they cannot miss it. It is very handy and you can put important links & news in it.
I am using the miniprofile plugin installed on the activy page and have put in this link.
Change your icon
I have also put this link in the spotlight area
Thanks, good idea. Do you have a link to that spotlight plugin?
Its a permanent part of your site - look at the bottom of the page.
To change it go to
/views/default/page_elements/spotlight.php
and change one of the links. Though if you have started creating your own theme (preferable) then go to
/mod/[your theme name]/views/default/spotlight/default.php
and change it there..
If your slightly flummoxed about it all then go and join

There will be a tutorial on alternative uses of the spotlight later on today.
Okay its all up...

Perfect, great work Sir!
But what I meant was this spotlight at the top plugin, your link for it doesn't show it up.
He hasn't added it yet - give him a chance to do it.
jededitor, regarding putting the spotlight at the top of the page. I did it too, but for that what I did is create a copy of the views/default/page_elements/header_contents.php and in that file I simply included the spotlight code so that it is present in the top of the page.
I wonder though, if there's a more elegant way of doing it? Because this way, I'm not really extending any view, css or whatever but rather I'm basing the plugin on elgg's default header_contents.php or rather my theme's header_contents.php - is that a good idea? is there a better way of doing that?
