You must log in to post replies.No. But you can setup a cron job to clean up all read messages > x days old.
@Team Webgalli... Thanks. Where's the best place to learn how to setup a cron job?
http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/Plugin_Hooks
The example plugin hook is actually the cron - so should be fairly straight forward from there
As usual, its the elgg docs and the cron aware plugins like logrotate. We have also a link on how to set it up @ http://www.webgalli.com/blog/how-to-create-cron-job-for-elgg/
Spoton... Thanks @Matt & @TW
Oh there is corn job as well for elgg?
I am new to elgg almost one month now and having a test elgg site but I did not know there is cron job as well for elgg.
Am gonna follow the below link and try this cron job and see how site works :)
http://www.webgalli.com/blog/how-to-create-cron-job-for-elgg/
The above link says setup /usr/bin/curl http://mysitename.com/cron/daily/
But I can see I do not have any cron folder in my elgg site root folder? Do I need to create an empty cron folder to follow this /usr/bin/curl http://mysitename.com/cron/daily/ ???
Please explain, many thanks in advance
Cheers
no you don't need to create anything, the 'cron' part of the url is what is called the pagehandler - it doesn't map to a physical file on your installation.
I think I am still running site without cron.
I checked my emails I can see cron jobs do not work, in my emails I am getting the follow
I followed this http://www.webgalli.com/blog/how-to-create-cron-job-for-elgg/
Do I need to create an empty folder called cron in my site directory?
Please someone help me, I am sure my site is slow because of this because cron jobs not working.
Look forward to your help,
Many thanks in advance
