We have upgraded the community site to Elgg 1.8. We are currently experiencing problems with the theme and the plugin repository. The repository will probably be down until Monday evening (US EST).

The footer looks a little too big.
nah, the footer's fine - it does exactly what it's supposed to but is out of the way
Title is too long on homepage.

Though the links in the footer are really not easily recognizable as links. Also, the footer might not be visible immediately on every page - not even on the index page in case of a small browser window size / low resolution. I think the links to the different sections might be better included in the site menu (or at least added to the menu additionally to the footer links).
Another thing is the layout of the plugin pages in the repository: the different page sections (description, release notes, comments) are not really easily to identify / to separate. Maybe some kind of separator / border lines between the sections would make the layout look better structured. Also, the download button in blue just below the page header (in blue) is a bit hard to notice. Maybe the button could also be increased in size (after all it's kind of important on the plugin pages). My preference would be to include the download button also not in the same section as the plugin title but rather near the release notes section.
Redirect users to activity on login?
Why isn't the navagation on top. It shouldn't have to be that hard to do.
I've received at least 20 notifications with the title 'Add discussion post' from this thread. I'm guessing it happens each time someone adds a comment, but the notification simply tells me about Cash's original post, not the comment. Quite irritating!
We have a couple of plugins that might help with this:
comment_tracker - http://community.elgg.org/plugins/872640/1.0 (automatically informs you of follow-up posts whenever you comment on a post or contribute to a discussion, and gives slightly more informative titles to notifications - can be turned on or off per thread or as a general setting, )
notification_messages - http://community.elgg.org/plugins/876327/1.0 (gives more informative notification subject lines for new posts, though not for comments)
