Quick question, where is the add menu item function for "friends" in the topbar? I want to remove it but I cant find it anywhere. Ive searched this site all day and Ive only found solutions for 1.8 I'm using 1.7.

Yeah I dont see any other way. or could I unregister it in a plugin?
You can overwrite the topbar view and filter it out in your theme. You can hook into the 'view', 'view' plugin hook and do some regex or str_replace magic.
For 1.8, you have to override the topbar view in views/default/page_elements/topbar.php

yeah it goes in a start.php. The //:DC: is the way to kinda mark all his code. I think it is something like "Dhrup Code".
You must edit a plugin or create your own. If you are making a plugin, you need a manifest.xml and a start.php.
