Improve how URLs show up in wire?

Hello

Is there a way to make URLs show up on the wire in the default theme the way they show up in Facebook? With the little thumbnail?

I am actually working on that. I am working with Google's goo.gl API and I know how to get thumbnail from links, it is pretty cool. I'm also working with another tool too.

However I don't know how to get links posted on the wire. I need to get links to wrap around the code for thumbnails :(
