I just discovered this group, and wanted to let the members know about a plugin I wrote which may be of interest to you: http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/project/547936/developer/AquaTerm/livetranslate

The plugin adds a Translate button to many pages which contain user contributed content, such as Group topics or messages. The user can just click, and the plugin translates content from whatever language each chunk of text into the reader's preferred language.

My site currently has members in Germany, Spain, the UK, and soon Italy - so this was a "must have" feature for me.
