Tag Filtering

Hello, i need to "divide" my site into 3 categories, i currently have 3 sitewide categories but i would like as an option in the header 4 clickable boxes that users can click upon login to select what category of information they want to see. For example if the 3 filters are square, triangle, circle i would like 4 boxes/images/llink/text labelled Square, Triangle, Circle, All. So if the logged in user only wants to look at content tagged Circle that person could click the Circle image/text/whatever and the site only shows blogs, bookmarks, pictures etc tagged "circle"
I hope i have described this well as this would be a huge step for my website and needs to be done, i would really like someones help with this please.

You must log in to post replies.this cud turn out be a rather heavy task to code if want to do globally within all elgg's views! will need a heavy elgg-php-hand;)
1. Create a menu with your categories
2. Create pagehandlers for your categories
3. Pull your entities with elgg_get_entities_from_metadata (categories are stored as metadata)
yes thats what i thought, thats why i have absolutely no idea how to do it or where to start and will probably never find the time to learn or do it as it would take me forever.
Although this option is absolutely essential for my website so i'm going to have to figure it out somehow.
