Single Sign On/integration

I have a food recipe website with very limited user profile features. I would love to be able to use Elgg as the profile for our users instead of the existing one. Today our users need to be signed in to be able to: submit recipe, leave comments, rate recipe etc. I am therefore looking at the option of Single Sign On. It would also be great if the users could have a documentation/links on their profiles to all the recipes they have posted. How can I make this happen? Any ideas?

- Using the elgg Web services plugin skelton available here @ http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/project/829356/developer/juho.jaakkola/elgg-api-skeleton or https://github.com/Tachyon/Elgg-Web-Services
- Sharing the elgg session with your application. Just google for it and you will get some hints.
- Loading the Elgg engine to your application and use the Elgg API calls to login/logout the user depending on their status in your application.

If your application is a well written piece of code, it will not be that hard to do it. If you are having only limited contents in the current platform, try to import them to Elgg.
