Welcome to this Elgg for Beginners group. It has been born after some discussion with the Core team, where we have identified the need to create a space for developers, web-savvy administrators and quick-learners, who are new to Elgg and wish to kick-start their plugin development.
This are the types of discussions we would like to host in this group:
Change friendly time format: http://community.elgg.org/pg/forum/topic/829820/change-friendly-time-format/
Change default language for new user profiles: http://community.elgg.org/pg/forum/topic/832451/change-default-language-for-new-ser-profiles/
This is not aspace for questions like "I got a white page", rather a forum to discuss challenges experienced when building a plugin, e.g. "I have been trying to retrieve user locations using elgg_get_entities() and got a white page" or "I have been trying to add a new page using a page_handler but the page comes up white".
We will try to be patient and help you achieve the result for as much as we can. This will cost you nothing, but the eagerness to understand Elgg and to learn from the discussions in this group.
Bon voyage and happy Elgging.

This is great Ismayil
Let's see how it takes off. I am hopeful that we can use this as a platform for creating a set of Tutorials to answer the FAQ. It would be good to eliminate questions like "how to remove a menu" from the forums forever.
A set of tutorials would be great. I have to admit, I have found it really tricky, and rather fruitless, to use search to find an answer to any of my queries, so I apologise if the question I have posted is inappropriate! :)
Please post new questions into separate threads. In the interest of keeping this group useful I'm closing this thread and moving unrelated questions to new threads. Please remember to open a new thread if you have an unrelated question. Thanks!
