Installing Elgg 8.

I have a created a data directory under /public_html, with the name elgg8, prior to it.

But during installation Elgg says "Your data directory elgg8 does not exist", though it is vey much there. But, of course, it accepts other particulars such as User Name, Database Name and DB Password.

What goes wrong?
