On the "Members" page of ELGG, while deleting those many spam members, the following error message appeared:
File profile/31175small.jpg (file guid:0) (owner guid:31175) is missing an owner!
The message is not systematic. Sometimes I can access the list of members but as I begin deleting them, sooner or later this message appears. My guess is that it occurs when ELGG seeks to add a particular user to the list (31175).
On this ELGG site we are using version: Release - 1.7.6, Version - 2010071002

I have just installed 1.8.0.1. I am astonished at the continued weakness of the handling of user registration. As an administrator of several ELGG platforms, one of the major headaches is handling all the rogue users and spammers. ELGG in it basic form is an open door on a nightmare. I wonder when you folks are going to do anything about it! I really can't understand why developers march off after fancy functionalities when basic questions remain unresolved.
If I have missed something or got it all wrong, I'm sure you won't hesitate to put me right :-)
Alan.
Ive encounter this before but i manualy delete this guid in the database.
@caragadatacenter - Read this page: http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/Should_I_edit_the_database_manually%3F. I've sent you this link multiple times. Please stop telling people to edit their databases manually.
@Alan - We all deal with users every day and no one disagrees with you that it's frustrating. Development of a large project like Elgg means our small team has to triage features and bugs. If you have specific changes you want to see and need them right now, the best way for that to happen is to send a pull request on github.
sorry but that was before ive a learned a lot from mistakes @Alan plz. refer to the link given by @Brett
