Upload images

Hello.
I have a problem with uploading images. The file plugin works and i have correctly sets the permissions of the data directory and subdirectories (777). But the profile can't upload images neither my plugins. What can be the problem?
I'm using elgg 1.7.8.

your *perms (chmod) and/or *ownership (chown) are defined wrong ;-)
Well, i mean i think i have correctly.. :-)
What can be the problem with ownership? And why the file plugin is ok?

The owner of my /elgg/data/ and /elgg/data/2011/ are the same as the owner of the /elgg/html/ but the owner of the others subdirectories of /elgg/data/ and the subdirectories of /elgg/data/2011/ is other. Can be the problem?
I think this is the problem. I have heard people losing their profile images after migrating to plesk simply because of ownership.
