How do I remove the Elgg Link in the topbar?

Hi, I'm new to this, but I would like to add my own logo and my own link to the topbar and I would love to put the logo and link at the bottom where I have my Policy, Terms, and About links are. Can anyone help me?

  • /views/default/page/elements/topbar.php  is the correct place to make code changes, there's nothing weird or strange in thecode, no 'pointing to itself' in there, just need to read code, understand code, change code.. it's pretty straight-forward php.

  • Ohh I see. But this is what it actually looks like though...

    <?php
    /**
     * Elgg top toolbar
     * The standard elgg top toolbar
     */

    // Elgg logo
    echo elgg_view_menu('topbar', array('sort_by' => 'priority', array('elgg-menu-hz')));

    // elgg tools menu
    // need to echo this empty view for backward compatibility.
    echo elgg_view("navigation/topbar_tools");

    the code isn't the same as Elgg 1.7.8

    Elgg 1.7.8 has the coding that Shouvik was saying, but Elgg 1.8 has a different coding like what I said.

  • of course 1.8 is not same as 1.7.8 ! ;-)
    1.8 triggers the elgg logo & link via
    elgg_register_menu_item('topbar', array('name' => 'elgg_logo' ...
    to override/replace -> you'll need to call elgg_unregister_menu_item(..)
    and then register your own top bar replacement for the elgg logo item.

  • I do understand that this thread is fairly old. I am putting it out there for people like me who are looking for a solution. Take a look at this post. In simple words the solution, as it is mentioned above, is to put elgg_unregister_menu_item('topbar', 'elgg_logo'); in start.php page of a module.
