Danelund, if you want constant support for your calendar or GPL licence, it's probably better to use Kevin's plugin. I developped our event_calendar for our purposes. We will give access to new code updates ( maybe I'll post the plugin on our website ) although I can't guarantee any updates. On the other hand, if you want to completely rebuild the calendar and don't rely on community version, our solution is probably a better choice since it uses new Elgg methods.

Mike - I hope you'll upload the plugin to the community then, I'd be great to see what the capabilities are.

It has clearly been stated why the plugin cannot be uploaded on the Elgg plugin repo, in case you were not reading.

The plugin can't be uploaded to the community since it's not under GPL licence. I'll upload it to external site during a week.

The problem I see is that extend_view has been deprecated from 1.7x. The new one is elgg_extend_view, but I cannot find all of them apparently. Fixed four and still getting the same error.

Kevin: Is there task list of changes needed to update even_calendar to work with elgg 1.8? I would like to contribute ( Finninsh translation already started), but I'm unsure where I should start. You wrote earlier that you will do complete rewrite, does it make sense  to  try patch current version for elgg 1.8?

How I should submit patches to you?  I already got  code from git.

More on this: I installed git version with algg 1.8b2, but all calendar displays are empty. Also if I try to add event I  only get ampty "Add event" page....
