I recently switched servers, and before I did, I download all the contents of my server so I could reinstate it on a new website.
I upgraded to elgg 1.7.8 on my new server, and now I would like to get all of my members back. How do I do this? I uploaded all of the stuff in my datafolder, but it doesn't seem to show on the site. Any help would be much much appreciated!

You must log in to post replies.u must update your database with old one. then only it will work
Thanks for your reply, I am currently trying to figure out how to use just certain stuff from my database... Like just importing the elgg_users_entity of my database, not so easy for me...
aw ShtZ buddy !!!!!
don't just import that "elgg_users_entity" table by itself.
if you have already done the phpmyadmin export of the **whole database --
for elgg fck sake *Import that whole frikkin lolz ***database into your new server.
I put up the database, but I messed up something in it a while ago, most likely my elgg_datalists row, so when I change my settings.php to that database, my site is all messed up. So I was hoping I could just import selective tables. Not possible?
after importing database you have to do some upgradation in database
please read this wiki http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/Duplicate_Installation
Migrating servers has been a very stress-free job for me ... using the elgg docs and descoop help for the first time. Afterwards, it is been as smooth as cakewalk ...
@roman : if you follow the wiki, Its not hard to do the upgrade. also, you cant simply import the user_entity table to create user accounts. You need to pass these user details through Elgg aPI's to create new accounts in yournew elgg install. If you can explain, how you made the upgrade step wise, we may be able to help to find the fault.
