Hi,
I'm about to rent a dedicated server to run my ELGG site on. We are however a bit short on staff and we really need the server to be secure and stable (and fast).
I need to decide on which kind of http server will serve me best. I have been thinking about apache, nginx and lighttpd. If I'll be looking at this site, I'd be inclined to go for nginx. Also this page makes me think NginX is about the thing I'm looking for. But the most important thing of course will be ... Will it run? if I move an existing install from an apache location to another one?
Does anybody has any experience here?
Thanks

You must log in to post replies. So far, Elgg runs only on Apache. I have my linux VPS and we run some Elgg sites there without any userinteraface as that save server-resources. If you need any help regarding server management, you can get in touch with me.
Elgg runs on all the major web servers. http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/Installation/Requirements
Thanks for your quick reply and your offer, Shouvik. Though I have experience with apache (though not so very much with keeping it secure).
I have noticed 2 pages on nginx with elgg. But in how far are they stable?

Thanks :)
There are production sites using nginx for Elgg (for example, this site).
Oh, I didn't know about elgg running on nginx. I'll digg around.
