Hello,
I have regularly people subscribing on my Elgg install to spam. I've first tried to fight against that with Capcha, and now with questions I thought would be good to stop spammers (like "which is the first name of the french president :)). But it's not enough. My Elgg install is not old, not more than two or three monthes. What can I do ? Is there a plugin to moderate subscription with mandatory admin activation ?
My Elgg install is here : http://com.savs-epilepsies.fr
Thank you

You must log in to post replies. There is a plugin available here called adminapprovemembers, which you can use.
Actually I think you mean 'approvenewmembers'. I installed that and got triple the spammers and no emails for approval sent. Others recommend it but I couldn't get it to work at all on my 1.71 and got no answer from my post on it. I don't find adminapprovemembers.
You can try this plugin. It has some simple antismap mechanisms, one of the most important one is a set of questions which users are asked before registration. You can set 10-20 questions, they will probably be harder to break than a single one.
@Mike : that's the one I use, but with not enough questions, I guess. I'm also trying Antispammer for Elgg (http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/project/656224/developer/webgalli/antispammer-for-elgg). I will see how it works.
