More poweful in the way that you can view your wall posts,news feed,filter them,accept friend requests and even with the option to publish blogs as notes in facebook or publish them as a story,like comments,like posts,comment to the posts in your wall or news feed and even with the option to synchronize your photo albums on your elgg site with facebook.Except the photo album thing,we have finished coding most of the rest.Little bit work left with the css.
As far as the twitter service is concerned,you can have a view similar to the one which you see when you visit the new twitter.Home,mentions,etc,along with the option to reply to the posts.
@Mark Bridges if a user decides not to share his email id in the permissions dialog and instead shares a proxy one,the only way to extract the email address is through fql,that is not possible using the graph api.
@brett:the official facebook connect plugin as a bug.When a user changes his password on facebook,the access token is revoked even if user has permitted offline_access.So if the user changes his password and then try to login,it won't happen!
@anirupdutta thats a little to much features, after all i am trying to create my own network and not emulate facebook. i only want to use facebook to make it easier for users to create acc on my site and possibly allow updates on facebook about activity on my site and thats where i want the interactions stop.

Okay guys I have released a new facebook connect plugin compatible with 1.7 as well.It has similar features as the one for elgg 1.8.
