You must log in to post replies.It is easy follow below steps:-
go to main directory> views > default > canvas > layouts, two_column_left_sidebar.php and place your add there it will show on all pages accept group and video then on same place edit one_coulmn.php.

In order to upgrade more cleanly, make a copy of this core file you have edited want to edit and put it in a plugin. http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/Views#Views_in_plugins
We really discourage people from editing core files directly because it causes headaches with upgrades.
@Evan, always appreciate reading your posts (and many other helpful folks here) from which I have gleaned much useful info.
When you say headaches with upgrades, are you saying that the files are not simply overwritten, or ... real headaches as in 'what the .... is that?
He means, create a plugin and make changes there. Otherwise, your custom codes will be over-written at the time of upgrade to the newer version of Elgg.
