Perhaps the simplest thing to do would be to enable plugin custom_index and then modify the new_index.php file within its views/default/canvas/layouts directory. You can use elgg_view("account/forms/register") to display the default registration form somewhere in this new_index.php.

Otherwise you would be changing core files and that would be difficult to maintain.

ther is a simple plugin that will work all youer problems

its name is cutome index widget and it will allow you to drag and arop must of the gadget

to the index and also to remove them

Go to 'Video Settings' on your admin panel and you will see the option to uncheck.
