Hello Folks,
I've recently upgraded from Elgg 1.7.1 to 1.7.6
There are few problems but the biggest one that I need to deal with right now is the fact that the RiverDashBoard is not functioning.
I am using the Core RiverDashBoard plugin that came bundled with 1.7.6 and all I get is a white screen with some text on it.
I've tried deleting the folder and re-uploading it and clearing my cache but to no avail.
I've basically disabled any non-core plugin to see if there was some conflict and this has not helped.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks in advance.

I turned debugging mode on and here is one of the errors thats showing up on the RiverDashBoard when I disable the Groups plugin.
These deprecated messages are of interest to the developers of plugins but if you see one than the method has still been retained and the plugin should work.
Your image looks like all css styling has disappeared. I can't make out though if you have river items on there. Is this with the groups plugin disabled? And if you disable the tidypics plugin can you then enable the groups plugin? The path of your site in the warning looks strange, mysite.com probably isn't your domain. Do the link tags in your html head point to the right domain when you preview your site?
Gerrit,
I changed my domain to mysite.com but everything else there is exactly as it appears.
This error doesn't seem to be doing anything or causing any real disruption.
The 'Groups' plugin however is still interfering with 'RiverDashBoad'.
I cannot run the RiverDashBoard with the Groups plugin activated.
I tried posting a picture of what the RiverDashBoard actually looks like when Groups IS activated but my screen capture from FLICKR is not showing up for some reason.
I can email this screen capture directly to you if you like via email so you can have a look.
Also, with debugging activated, I cannot see any error messages that have anything to do with the RiverDashBoard or Groups. I don't know where else to look for error messages.
Thanks
Driftwork,
The reason your screenshot doesn't appear is because you reference a page showing the picture instead of the picture itself. Nonetheless I have seen the picture by pasting its URL in the address bar. From that I could judge that styling is gone, but it seemed to me that the page was actually displaying some river items.
When you say that you cannot run the RiverDashBoard, do you mean that it looks wrong or that no river items appear? If you zoom out in the browser you can capture a wider area. Also if it is a layout problem then I wonder what the links with rel="stylesheet" in your html source (head section) look like and if they actually fetch valid stylesheets.
Gerrit,
You are correct.
With the 'Groups' plugin is activated, it will still display the 'RiverDashBoard' but it is not displayed correctly. If I zoom-out, it will display some more text but will not dislay all of the text it would if it is being displayed correctly.
Can you please tell me exactly where and in which folder the stylesheet in the html source is?
I can then post what it looks like.
Thanks
If I turn the RiverDashBoard pluggin off and just use the normal DashBoard with Groups pluggin enabled, here is the error I get in the 'Groups' widget window on the Dashboard.
Driftwork,
This deprecation error is just for the developers it doesn't mean that there is something wrong now, rather that something might go wrong in a later version.
The funny thing is that Groups doesn't do a thing with your styling that I can see. If you disable groups you get the right styling on your riverdashboard? What is in the <head></head> section of your html when you enable groups and when it is disabled?

Gerrit

Driftwork,
However it is a good thing you posted that error line. By examining the Elgg repository and comparing the line number and function call, I have found that the version of groups you are using definitely is not the one that came with 1.7.6 but very likely the one that came with 1.7.1. So I think your Elgg site has become a chimera. A mixture of some files from 1.7.6 and some files from 1.7.1. Therefore it is unlikely that these errors can be resolved by just trying to work out all incompatibilities. You must update all files which are in the 1.7.6 distribution except for changes you made to settings.php and .htaccess.
So, you'd recommend doing the upgrade again?
Can you suggest a specific step-by-step course of action?
Thanks
