@drup your link leads me to the interesting blog Post processing Elgg views – Trac tags example by Marcus Povey and finaly to the documentation "of the powerful Elgg views system" ;-))
found a solution: i made a new view
<?php
header("Content-type: text/html; charset=UTF-8");
// link your CSS file
elgg_extend_view('css','yourpluginname/css');
// your source . . . .
.....
Call your page with parameter view=print
e. g. http://localhost/yourdomain/mod/yourplugin/yourpage.php?view=print
the page is displayed without footer and header (page_elements)
