Register users

hi,
1) When i make a test user on the homepage of my elgg site
it's says that i am succesful registerd, but when i log-in
on my test account it stays on the hompage (where i logged
in).
2) If i register it sends normally an activication mail, but by
me it does not send an mail.
Anyone a solution?

if your problem is different, please explain it in detail.

Is validation necessary for accounts directly created by the Admin?

Thanks. That's my experience.
It sends now e-mails, but i have another problem:
If i register it sends an e-mail that you are registerd and you need to click on the link
to activate your account, i don't see that link.
