i notice that the URLS for most content in elgg are convoluted and not as friendly as the average site/social network in use on the web today.

i know the plugin 'vazco_url' exists to attempt to resolve this but it only covers profiles and groups..

plus it really is the kind of feature i need to be core rather than plugin based.

is there any intention to integrate this kind of change into an upcoming elgg version?

if not, i'd appreciate it greatly if it could be added.. perhaps with an option to enable/disable the feature to allow for backwards compatibility with sites that have hardcoded links and urls based on the existing url structure.

this would also allow for the function of a site member being able to choose a url for their profile address as with facebook and other sites.
