Editing a bit of text on the homepage

Hello everyone!

I recently installed Elgg 1.7.3, this past month, and is being purposed as a family website, therefore I have no need for the "Register" link on the homepage. Not too mention, I have had two automated or otherwise non family members join. I deleted their accounts, but still, hopefully I can keep that to a minimum.

Due to my rather new-to-this skills, I thought I could simply edit the index file and delete the html for the Register link. I am not sure how to proceed and would really appreciate a relatively easy resolution to this!

Also, a similar query was made here: http://community.elgg.org/mod/groups/topicposts.php?topic=18556&group_guid=15815

Thanks, Jeff

  • 1. I would create a little plugin that removes the registration link and turns off the registration action.

This page explains how to override a view: http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/Overriding_a_view

The view that you want to override is "account/forms/login".

After you get that working, I can show you how to turn off the registration action.

And oh, 1.7.4 is out and has a few handy bug fixes.
