Hello,
I am looking at using elgg to create a social networking site, so far it looks good.
Are there any examples of social networking sites that use elgg that I can look at?

you can also try our Elgg test site to test some customization options from admin's perspective:

This instalation has all core plugins, as well as most usefull plugins from community and about 20% of all the custom plugins we created. Site's database is restarted every hour.

Is there another? I'm curious about elgg and wanted to see what it looked like from the admin's view.

This is fully responsive and also has very important features that doesnt come by default with Elgg.

For the examples of the Elgg-based sites, please check https://community.elgg.org/showcase that is exactly meant for posting Elgg sites worth sharing. This thread is from the time showcase didn't exist yet.
