Hey there, I'm new here and I've successfully installed elgg on my Ubuntu server. I am unable to see images in elgg. I upload them, and I don't end up seeing the image or thumbnail. I have been able to successfully upload txt files, so the upload seems to work. There appears to be something weird with images though. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks
Patrick

No PHP GD?
Another option is you may have BOM encoding problem (forwards wouldn't work as well then).
I'll second Cash, it sounds like you're missing the GD library.
my phpinfo shows GD enabled....
Can you please ensure that you have 777 permission for your data directory?
did that too, even tried creating a new data directory to ensure that it wasn't something cryptic. 777 all the way through the data tree. incidentally, I see the photos i've uploaded in the dir.
thanks
1. can you upload profile photos and see them?
2. can you upload a very small photo with the files plugin and see it?
3. if you cannot see it, can you click the download button and download it?
I have a similar problem.
@Cash
1. Yes, I can upload profile photo's and see them
2. No, I can't.
3. No, I can't. It shows the following error:
Translated in English:
The image "http://synaps-acc/mod/file/download.php?file_guid=86" cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
I used the same image to create the profile picture and that works fine.
Also data directory is 777 and the following GD libary settings in php.ini
Also captcha is not able to create an image.
http://synaps-acc/ is wrong ;-(
what Elgg vers ?
can you check the image file size in your data folder and post size here ?
"The image "http://synaps-acc/mod/file/download.php?file_guid=86" cannot be displayed, because it contains errors" usually implies a "broken" corrupt image file. Is the image jpg, gif or ?
