My dev platform is a stand-alone Windows XP (xampp) PC with no Internet or sendmail.
I was testing the plug-in "uservalidation by email only" and decided to disable it.
Now elgg won't allow sys admin to log in -- it wants to validate the account via email.
Thoughts on how I can get out of this, please and thank you.
David

You must log in to post replies.Occasionally Elgg gets confused and thinks that the first created admin account needs to be validated when in fact the problem is that you have mistyped the password.
So I doubt this has anything to do with the uservalidation plugin.
I wish it were that simple...
Now that I've disabled the plugin "uservalidation by email only", the native Elgg validator is flashing "Please verify your email address via the email we just sent you..." (paraphrased)
Yes, please read my message again. I think what I wrote is correct.
If you have forgotten your password, you should be able to have it emailed to you.
Or, rather, a new one emailed to you.
Hi Kevin,
That's my point ... heehee. I do know the correct password.
There is no email service on my dev box.
I think I need to twiddle the database to reset the admin account unless I can spoof elgg some other way?

I also have xampp on Windows and I use Mercury Mail to simulate email. I really do advise you to use the standard Elgg mail-me-my-password feature to reset your password. It is usually a bad idea to "twiddle" an Elgg database as you may corrupt it.
Thanks Kevin!
I installed Mercury Mail, set up an alias rule to redirect my external mail address to localhost, and intercepted the Elgg validation emails in the Mercury mail quque.
All is well.
Thanks again.
