I have transferred Elgg installation quite a number of times but have never experienced such an issue.
Recently, we decided to move our Elgg site from shared to VPS. The installation went well. But, all the images (Groups, profile, Tidypics, everything ...) disappeared.
Otherwise, the site works well.
Could anyone please suggest any reason for this and possible remedies ...!

You must log in to post replies.anyone ...?
did you change the filestore data directory ?
UPDATE elggmetastrings set string = '/var/data/elgg/' WHERE id = (SELECT value_id from elggmetadata where name_id = (SELECT * FROM (SELECT id FROM elggmetastrings WHERE string = 'filestore::dir_root') as ms2) LIMIT 1) ;
Well, let me write down what I have changed, since I don't understand much of technical terms.
Table- elggdatalists > changed path and root
Table- elggsites_entity > changed url
Table elggmetastrings > Row 139
Please, let me know what I am doing wrong ... However, I never had to change the row 139 on the table elggmestrings on my previous transfers.
Anyone can help me ...?
it can be 139, but must not
in my case it is row 186 . . . . that is why you schould use the update query above . . .
i think you do not use right url to the database folder
in my case it is: /home/scialnet/public_html/elggdata/
if you have softaculous make a test elgg-installation und look what softaculous writes in the tables ;-)
This comes up about once a month and it is always a server configuration problem or something not set correctly in the database. I always recommend doing a fresh install on a server *before* trying to move a site to the server.
I actually use this on my VPS which doesn't have CPanel installed. So, no softaculous. I think there is something wrong with the DB. I used a previous backup and it works fine.
I did put the right path to the data diretory and it is writable.
Still getting this error ...!
