Hi,
Newbie here. I've just started with elgg - installed locally and going through the tutorials. We have a specific implementation in mind and one of the requirements is the ability to 'hide' profile details from other members. Users names, companies etc will only be viewable between two members at a later point.
I was wondering about the best way to achieve this? With profiles appearing to be an intrisic part of elgg, is it doable or would it be better to use the standard profile fields for more generic details and put personal details in the profiles metadata - which could be revealed via customized plugins?
Many thanks.

We're working on something sort of similar to what you describe, but our concern is "Privacy" issues and users being able to block other users from having access to profile data and from sending messages.
That sounds a solid way of implementing the same thing. If you need any help with testing etc, just let me know.
